The London Marathon 2019
The London Marathon is a long-distance running event held in London, United Kingdom, part of the World Marathon Majors. The event was first run on 29 March 1981 and has been held in the spring of every year since. Since 2010, the race has been sponsored by Virgin Money.
The mass race starts at 10:00 from Blackheath and Greenwich Park but the assembly areas are for runners only, so you will have to say goodbye to your friends and family who are participating well before race time. There are a couple of travel options. All runners are entitled to free travel to the start on Southeastern trains from Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street and Victoria. If you were to say goodbye at any one of these stations, then it's an easy transfer onto the London Underground to make your way onto the marathon route, get your spot and probably have time for some breakfast before you watch the action!
