Your Knightsbridge Travel Guide

Knightsbridge is one of the most renowned parts of London and offers some of the most exclusive serviced accommodation in our amazing capital city. It has captured the imagination, as well as the spending power, of some of the wealthiest and stylish global travellers who visit and reside in London. Wherever you glance, you can contemplate the finery of the beau monde and all it offers in an abundance of style and elegance.

Knightsbridge is one of the most exclusive retail districts and soughtafter residential parts of central London; alongside the West End, it is rightly judged to be one of the premier retail areas – truly international in flavour and style. There is a plethora of shops and restaurants to tempt both the sensibilities and palettes of the discerning visitor.

Harrods

The jewel in Knightsbridge’s crown must be ‘Harrods’ – famed throughout the world for offering the most memorable, enticing and beguiling of shopping experiences – the go to destination for exclusive collections and excellent customer service. This retail flagship – the world’s most famous department store – has become part of the nation’s fabric for over 150 years. It is also considered one of the ‘must see’ tourist attractions in London.

Ranging over seven floors, Harrods boasts some 300+ departments dedicated to offering the finest in food, designer fashion, luxury gifts, accessories, homeware and technology. Amazingly, the store employs some 12,000+ staff!

Superbrands, the new luxury womenswear department, offers 17 boutiques dedicated to top international brands, including Valentino, Prada and Dior, while Salon du Parfums houses a collection of superb fragrances exclusive to Harrods.

Shoppers can choose to dine in one of the store’s 27 restaurants, including a pizzeria, steakhouse, oyster bar and new Chinese restaurant, Chai Wu. The Georgian is an elegant venue for afternoon tea, while the Harrods Food Halls have a wide selection of tea, chocolate and fresh produce.

The store also offers an impressive range of exclusive customer services, including the Gift Concierge, Tax Rewards, Urban Retreat spa and By Appointment Personal Shopping. Payment options include Euros, US dollars and China Union Pay cards.

Harvey Nichols

By way of a complete contrast in mood and tone, the cool chic of Harvey Nichols has not just put the ‘s’ in style but carefully refined all the other letters too. The result is three floors of designer wear presenting famous brands with a distinctive and characteristic flourish. There is a lavish beauty department topped only – and quite literally – on the fifth floor by a varied choice of all day dining options. The cafe and terrace bar reward the senses; not just presenting a most distinctive skyline view, but with a varied choose of all day dining options.

Restaurants

If this were not enough, Knightsbridge’s ambit of culinary choice encompasses the finest in modern cuisine with Yo Sushi, Kuro Buta, Burger & Lobster and Polpo. One of the benefits of serviced accommodation in this lovely area is the lovely range of restaurants nearby – just wander out of your apartment residence and you will find a treasure trove of eateries on your doorstep.

Osteria Romana

Tucked away in the lanes of London’s luxurious Knightsbridge, Osteria Romana brings the simple elegance and humble dishes of the Eternal City to London, celebrating Roman produce, culinary history and passion.  All of Osteria Romana’s produce: vegetables, meat, fish are delivered weekly – directly from the markets of Rome and this ensures authenticity. Keeping true to traditions, the menu features a selection of seasonal antipasti, primi and secondi dishes. The lovely Osteria Romana offer you the chance to explore the dishes of Lazio with a menu inspired by the cuisine of yesteryear. Dishes cooked for over 60 years that simply represent the Roman palate, food, identity and pure romance of Italy “

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

This is a superb British, vegetarian-friendly restaurant. Inspired by Heston Blumenthal’s fascination with historic gastronomy, Dinner is one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants. First conceived in the late 1990s, the idea for Dinner derived from Heston’s fascination with the savoury ice creams of the late 1800s, the theatre of the Tudor dining experience and the dishes featured in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

A visit to Knightsbridge simply has to include Sloane Street. Here exclusivity, elegance and expense have plainly taken up residence – the finest design can be found at Chanel, Gucci, Christian Dior, Armani, Prada, Nicole Fahri and Katherine Hamnett. Knightsbridge is now becoming a magnet for ‘celebrity’ designers including Jimmy Choo – offering the finest examples of contemporary British high fashion specialising in shoes, handbags, accessories and fragrances.

The most alluring and recherché of specialist lingerie is there for the connoisseur of artful and stylish finesse at Rigby & Peller and La Perla.  On a larger scale, Harvey Nichols, Peter Jones and Harrods stand resplendent in their corners of Knightsbridge the behemoths of our age of consumer choice and personal expression.

The gourmet creations of more celebrity talent can be enjoyed on the ground floor and basement of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel: here are the first London restaurants of the renowned chefs, Heston Blumenthal and Daniel Boulud.  Knightsbridge is all about bright lights and a type of glamour that merely hints at unfettered largesse.
